Christ Our Rock
In the Psalms and the Prophets, God is often referred to as the Rock of Salvation, the Rock of Refuge, or the Rock of Israel. The notion of God being like a rock - immovable, a protective fortress, strong and secure - permeates scripture. In 1 Corinthians 10:4, Jesus - the Second Person of the Trinity and the eternal Word - is identified as the Rock that accompanied Israel in the wilderness, and from whom came life-giving water to drink. In Isaiah, He is the cornerstone; and idea picked up by Jesus in the Gospels and by Saint Paul in his letters. In this series we will reflect on the work and person of Jesus as our Rock.
