From Generation to Generation

In this theme, we tell the story of the faith being wrestled with and imparted from generation to generation. Note that imparting the faith is not just one-directional or biological in these stories: There are daughters serving mother in laws, Apostles mentoring pastors, and children setting examples for adults. Each week, we tell the story featured in the text, demonstrating the way that faith is being passed down. We also confront the Law as we see the weaknesses and failures of individuals and family systems within these stories; we don’t try to sugar-coat them. Each week brings a nugget of Gospel around which we center the message. This is what’s being imparted. Then we might ask, “How do we pass down the faith like ___________?” How are we called to live out this Gospel good news?
