Unexpected Generousity

Two healing stories – The healing of the Syrophoenician woman’s daughter, and the healing of a deaf man. One involves the famous phrase challenging Jesus’ test, “Lord, even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from the children’s table.” The other marvels at how with Jesus the deaf hear and the mute speak. We think that God is deaf to us, and we discover that he hears us. The mute speak: This woman, sociologically, doesn’t get to speak. Yet Jesus hears her. God hears us; we do get to speak!
