Shepherd Sunday - the Fourth Sunday of Easter
May 3, 2020 Series: Easter
Topic: Faith Passage: Acts 2:42–47, 1 Peter 2:19–25, John 10:1–10
Jesus as our 'shepherd' isn't just a nice bucolic image of a cute lamb being cradled by Jesus's tender arms. John tells us that Jesus emphasizes that His main role as our shephers is.. to sacrifice His own life for us sheep... and to take up that life again in His rising from the dead. The picture of a 'shepherd' is for the sheep's feeding and safety, a shepherd must lower himself to the dirtiness and ignorance of the helpless animals. That's what the Son of God did for you!
