Once Upon a Time

November 25, 2020 Series: End Times....

Topic: Faith Passage: Deuteronomy 8:1–10, Philippians 4:6–20, Luke 17:11–19

It's the start of the Advent Season! Advent means "arrival". Before the Christmas Season starts on December 24, this penitential season prepares us, not only for the celebration of the Savior's arrival in the manger, but even more, especially at the start of the month, for the arrival of Christ in glory. On this First Sunday in Advent we always hear the story of Jesus's entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, remembering that the arrival of our God among us means "the mountains quake" and our sin should "like wind take us away". But Jesus comes always to answer our desperate cry "Hosanna!" - "Save!" Journeying from the manger's hay on the donkey's back to the cross's hill and through the grave's depths, He did . . . and He does!

On this First Sunday in Advent we remember that the arrival of our God among us means "the mountains quake" and our sin should "like wind take us away". But, amazingly, Jesus has come to pay for all sin . . . and will come to gather His chosen ones from the ends of the earth. He journeyed from the manger's hay on the donkey's back to the cross's hill and through the grave's depths to guarantee His Word of your salvation shall endure.
