The special prayers for the first two Sundays in the Advent Season both begin by calling God to "stir up" His action to make us ready to receive our Savior.  John the Baptizer preached the shortest summary of what this means:  "Repent!  The Kingdom of God is at hand!"  John, in fulfillment of Isaiah 40, was the voice calling people to "Prepare!" for the Messiah's arrival with confession of their sin, Baptism for their forgiveness, and a changed life showing fruits of a new heart.  May Christ's Spirit "stir up" your life with His comfort and glory revealed -  in worship today and as you go forth!
