The Shortest Verse in the Bible

December 13, 2020 Series: Prepare, Ye

Topic: Faith Passage: Isaiah 61:1–4, Isaiah 61:8–11, 1 Thessalonians 5:16–24, John 1:6–8, John 1:19–28

"Pink Candle Sunday" always accents . . . JOY!  That's the symbolism in the special color of the third candle on the wreath.  We hear from God's Word today about joy as Isaiah 61 promises from the coming Messiah "the oil of gladness instead of mourning".  I Thessalonians 5:16 is the shortest verse in the Bible -- "Rejoice always!"  Even the description of the Baptizer's stern warning of repentance to "make straight the way for the Lord" is described in John 1 as a "witness to the light".  May the light of the Savior's forgiving and comforting grace enlighten your heart with true and lasting joy . . . as you worship Him this Sunday and as you Him worship in life!
