There is something a mother wants more from her child than obedience.  Oh, obedience is important – it prevents our falling into evil and is the way of God’s blessings.  But no one – no child, no mother or father, no person ever – obeys the way we should and as God commands . . . perfectly.  That’s why our saving God (and every godly mother) wants something more important for each child – love!  A good mother, above all, shares her sacrificial love with her child.  Our saving God wants you to know and trust His infinite love for you in Christ.  By that love God strengthens your obedience to Him and love for others.  Dear child, have you known your mother’s love?  Have you known your Father’s love?  What does that love now work in you?
