Jesus’ teaching in the Beatitudes describes our character as disciples of Jesus Christ. It is a paradox, in that we’ve already been given this character on account of Christ, and yet we are also growing into this description as our Lord continues to sanctify and mature us in our walk of faith. In both ways, this beautiful teaching conveys the salvation promises that our Lord Jesus Christ grants to his own.
