Can’t You Hear Me Knocking (Traditional Service)
Pastor: John Scheusner Series: A Sense of the Savior
Jesus is our Good Shepherd. He is the One who enters by the door and His sheep hear His voice. You and I hear the voice of Jesus and He calls us by name. Even when we go astray, He tracks us down and continues to call us back with His voice. His voice comforts us and forgives us no matter how many times we go astray. So let us have ear to constantly hear our Savior.
Law: You and I, as sheep, go astray and follow thieves and robbers. We follow other worldly voices that we hear instead of our Shepherd.
Gospel: Jesus is our Good Shepherd who has called us by name in the waters of baptism we those beautiful words: [Name] I baptize you in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jesus continues to call us by name through the preaching of the Word.
Application: And how are they to hear without someone preaching? How often do you and I proclaim the hope that we have in Jesus to those around us?
n Scriptures:
o Isaiah 55 – Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live…
o Romans 10:8-17 – And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?
o John 10:1-10 – “The sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.”
