Fed by Christ – Word and Table Nourishes Our Faith (Contemporary Service)

Pastor: John Scheusner Series: Look Up | Be nourished in Worship

In Christ, God feeds us through the hearing of His Word and the reception of His resurrected body and blood at the Table of Holy Communion every time we gather for a regular worship service. The contours of our worship, from invocation to benediction, shape us for a life of grateful prayer and praise.

o Law: What does Scripture have to say about those who forsake the gathering of believers? 1

o Application: How does our Lord invite us to participate in His gathering for Worship?2

o Gospel: Word and Sacrament are where we continually receive God’s greatest gifts of grace, and where we are held in sure and certain hope for eternal life! Receiving this blessing truly nourishes us for walking in the way of Jesus every minute of every day. This is how He grants us his salvation, and He places his law in our hearts and writes it on our minds.

Scriptures:

o Exodus 29:38-46 – The lamb is to be a regular burnt offering for Israel, throughout the generations.

o Hebrews 10:1-18 – “But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God...”

o Luke 21:14-20 – On the night in which he was betrayed, Jesus instituted Holy Communion.
