The Word Shapes Who I Am. (Contemporary Service)

We don’t have to be tossed back and forth in this world looking for truth. When we center our life on the wrong things, it destroys us. God’s Word anchors or shapes who we are. When we lean into the truth of God’s Word, it changes everything: How we live out our relationships, how we make decisions, how we view the present according to our hope in God’s future.

o Law: What voice has been shaping how I think about myself? What defines truth in my life?

o Application: Anchors help us not to drift. How does God word anchor us in faith and life?1

o Gospel: If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed.

o Jeremiah 17:5-8 – “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord.”

o Romans 12:1-2 – “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

o John 8:31-38 – “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
