I know Easter probably makes you think about happy, joyful things, like bunnies, and candy, and colorful eggs — but the truth is, the reason for the Easter season isn't all butterflies and rainbows. Easter might end in victory and celebration, but it begins with grief and pain. In the biblical book of Matthew, we read about how Jesus suffered on Good Friday and the days leading up to it. You probably know Jesus died a terrible death, but did you also know He was let down and betrayed by His best friends? Jesus suffered, but He suffered for you because He thought you were worth it. And if you're hurting right now, know this: Jesus gets it. The Jesus who suffered suffers with you.
