March 28, 2021 Series: Places of the Passion

Topic: Faith Passage: Mark 14:1– 15:47

It's not Palm Sunday!  Well yes, chronologically it was eight days before Easter that Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the donkey to the shouts of "Hosanna!"  But did the people then and do people now fully grasp what it means to cry "Save!" to Jesus?  How many 2,000 years ago saw and how many today see that God's salvation means pain and sacrifice for the Savior and His followers?  Jesus came to Jerusalem not to exalt Himself as some earthly king to rescue from mere earthly problems.  He came in perfect humility to take in His body and soul THE problem - our eternal death.  He came to suffer and die to take your deserved punishment from God.  He came to rise from the dead, victorious over all your guilt, everyone's damnation, even the devil himself.  Today is officially titled "Sunday of the Passion".  Do you know what the word "passion" technically means?  At the start of Holy Week we most solemnly do remember that salvation means following Jesus' . . ."suffering".
