Jesus told his followers to love God and, as part of loving God, to love neighbors, but he wasn't just talking about the people who live next door. Jesus shared a vision for love and service that navigates past fear, stereotypes and grudges to create a path between people who need to be loved.
Imagine what might happen when we practice seeing the God-given value in each other, or when we allow our compassion to grow legs and become action. When we insist on loving people generously, no matter who they are, that love for each other just might evolve into a lifestyle.
Jesus is inviting you to travel that path toward being a neighbor with people you encounter along the way.
