David offers to build the Lord a house for His Mercy Seat to dwell in, but instead God tells David that his plan is to make of David and his descendants a house—a dynasty. This dynasty leads all the way to the birth of Jesus. And through Jesus, God comes to us. No longer does He speak from the Mercy Seat, but through His Son who was born for us.
