Promised and Now Present

February 28, 2021 Series: The Covenant Fulfilled

Topic: Faith Passage: Psalm 22:23–31, Genesis 17:1–7, Romans 5:1–11, Mark 8:27–38

God’s covenant and its fulfillment may not often appear as we think it should.  Eve thought that the promise of a Savior was fulfilled in her very first descendant, but he turned out to be his brother’s murderer.  We hear today that Abram was told his name would be “father of many peoples”, but he never saw his family grow in numbers.  King David was promised that his throne would endure forever, but his dynasty was outwardly obliterated 400 years later.  Nevertheless, the “Seed” was planted as God’s promise, and it blossomed . . . a shoot from the stump of Jesse! . . . Abraham’s son and Lord! . . .  the replacement for Adam’s sin and death!  Are you looking for the Christ as He was promised?  In suffering and sacrifice?  With repentance and endurance?  At a cross?
