Abide in Me

April 28, 2024 Series: Abide in Me

Just as a gardener cares for the plants that he has, so does God care for His plants/branches, humanity. He watches over us, makes sure we are watered and healthy and He removes any dead branches that would harm the vine. As Christians, we are the branches and Jesus is the Vine. The only way that any of us live and don’t die is because of the healthy Vine that is Jesus. As soon as we are no longer connected to Him, we die and are thrown into the fire. The main point of this passage is not what we can do when attached to the Vine, but what we can’t do. You and I can’t live apart from Jesus the Vine. As soon as we cut ourselves away from the Vine, we are dead. That is why Christ must be the One that we live every aspect of our lives in.
