Expectations Fulfilled

December 19, 2021 Pastor: John Scheusner Series: Misplaced Expectations

Passage: Micah 5:2–5a, Psalm 80:1–7, Luke 1:39–45

Elizabeth had long given up on bearing a child. Instead, God granted her a child who would prepare the way for Jesus. Mary expected to be an ordinary young woman, with an ordinary marriage to Joseph. Instead, she was chosen to conceive by the Holy Spirit and bear the Messiah in her womb. That child carried by Elizabeth miraculously aligned his expectations with the Father’s will, welcoming Jesus with a leap, even in the womb. These are witnesses to God’s fulfillment of his promises. Do we join Mary in believing that the Lord will keep his promises to us?
