Repent! Whom Shall We Fear?

March 13, 2022 Series: Reset - Perspectives on Repentance

Passage: Jeremiah 26:8–15, Philippians 3:17– 4:1, Luke 13:31–35

Jesus’ followers fear Herod, and think they’re doing him a favor by warning him. Jesus knows full well what his destiny is, and that he will die at the hands of the people in Jerusalem (not by Herod’s hands). He turns the urgency of decision-making upon the people… Jerusalem is not willing to be gathered by the Lord, and instead kills those who bring God’s Word. What about us? Are we trying to protect our “savior” from the powers of this world? Or are we repenting of our proclivity to kill the Savior for bringing us the Truth? When will we see him? When we join the cry of the faithful, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”
