The Father Gives and Gathers
April 3, 2022 Series: Reset - Perspectives on Repentance
Passage: Philippians 3:4b–14, Luke 15:1–3, Luke 15:11–32
Focus on the first part of the parable; vv. 11-24. The Prodigal Son burns every bridge. His Father – and his family – is dead to him, and he sets out on his own path. When his dreams die and his plans fail, his pitiful repentance is barely distinguishable from a strategy for survival. But the father is astoundingly compassionate and generous! He welcomes the prodigal son back with open arms, celebrates his return, and restores his honor. So the Heavenly Father does for us when we repent.
